Engagement Party

What a success! Awesome people showed up, we ate amazing food, and smelled delicious candles! Because of the sweet friends and family I have John and I do not have to pay for candles for our wedding.

Today Des and I met up for some fun photos, and to catch up after our busy holidays! Here are a few, the doubles are there because John and I were playing with editing tools :)

mini cheesecakes

So I haven't technically tried these yet but I thought I should post the recipe seeing as I haven't added any food in a long time...

Ingredients:
1 12 ounce package of vanilla wafers (or a cookie like it, you could also use a cookie of your choice like oreo crumbs!)
1 8 ounce packages of cream cheese
3/4 c sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp of vanilla extract (i use pure)

Do these things:
Pre heat oven to 350
Put 1/2 tbsp of crushed cookie into muffin tin, i lined mine with paper, you could also use tinfoil.. I also used the mini ones so they were extra cute. :)
Cream the cream cheese, sugar, eggs and vanilla, but not too much!
Fill the tin cups almost to the top
Bake for 15 mins
Top with pie filling, or whatever your heart desires.
I am topping mine with all sorts of things:
mini m&m's
chocolate sauce
raspberries
blackberries
white chocolate
OH and for fun I put some coconut in with the cookies on one batch!
I am so dangerous!

Frustrations.

Wedding Registries.
Why? It is so dumb, John and I spent an hour in a store today trying desperately to find items to put on this registry.... we both felt sick over it, we don't need anything! Why would we 'upgrade' things we already have?

Christmas.
Mainly consumerism that surrounds Christmas, I gave everyone a coupon for a date night on me... hopefully people were not offended.

On the bright side I have booked a whole bunch of silly details for the wedding and am meeting with the florist tomorrow.

Question: Why is it that when you mention the word Wedding everything goes up in price? And not just a bit but like 5x as much?
I am contemplating telling vendors that its a bar mitzfah!

Well, i took a couple but they were awful compared to these. So feast your eyes on this talent!

Happy New Year!

Holy moly it has been a long while.
Christmas was a whirlwind, we set off for Canmore on the 21st and got home on the 29th, quickly did a load of laundry and then went to the lake for the weekend.
When we got to the cabin it was -25 inside, and after John got the wood ready the fireplace got the house up to a whopping +12 which felt like Mexico, and then +25 which was a sauna... haha there was really no happy medium. BUT it was like a blast from the past, our friends Tiff and Josh and their dog Memphis came with us and we all talked about how people had to live 50 years ago and we had a new appreciation for things such as electricity and running water.
On the 31st John decided that fireworks were a must for the evening so he built a pile of snow on the lake to set them up on. By about 11 we had all gotten into way too much alcohol and lighting fireworks probably wasn't the best idea, but at the time it seemed like a great idea! I will show some secret footage of the fireworks because I find them quite humorous.... John had no fear and was holding on to them and sitting a foot away from them while they went off, I am happy to report that my future husband still has all of his limbs.
